NLDS+ Partners was commissioned by ARCHITEKTSCHNUR (Sarah Schnur) to provide full interior design, styling, and FF&E specification services for a breathtaking private villa in Erfurt, Germany. The project involved the renovation of a Wilhelminian-Style villa, built in 1908, transforming it into a contemporary living space while respecting its historical character. The goal was to create aesthetic, contemporary interiors with beautiful furnishings and finishes within this historically significant building.
Working within the constraints of a historical building (built in 1908) with specific restrictions presented a unique challenge. Our vision was to elegantly blend classic and contemporary styles to reflect the owner’s discerning taste and create a personalized space. Our design process began with a thorough analysis of the client’s requirements. We then focused on creatively addressing the unique challenges presented by each space within the villa. This included carefully considering the interplay of residential and office areas, ensuring seamless integration without compromising privacy or circulation. A key element of our approach was maximizing natural light and the villa’s spectacular views.
The result is a luxurious and contemporary villa that harmoniously blends classic and modern design elements within the framework of the renovated 1908 villa. Beautiful wooden floors are complemented by stunning modern rugs in silk and wool. Iconic furniture pieces mix seamlessly with bespoke designs created exclusively for the property. The scheme is enhanced with luxurious soft furnishings, textures, and materials in subtle shades and tones, creating a welcoming and relaxing home. Throughout the project, we communicated closely with the client, incorporating their feedback at every stage, from schematic design to final delivery. This collaborative approach, combined with a realistic schedule, ensured a smooth and efficient workflow, allowing us to meet all submission deadlines.
